Fetch by Colin Bramwell

In Celtic folklore, a fetch is a shadowy doppelgänger from the Otherworld that portends the beholder’s fate. Colin Bramwell uses this concept as a model in his collection of humorous verse, exploring overlapping binaries such as the reader and the poem, music and speech, the sacred and the profane, and humanity and nature. Bramwell converses with the Anglo-Celtic lyric tradition in a distinctively amiable fashion, taking poetry seriously but not too seriously.

This collection is an astonishingly musical tour-de-force, where reverence and irreverence, religion and faithlessness, and the living and the dead nearly rhyme.
