Electric Light Orchestra - Light Waves - Live 1972 [Audio CD]

Bursting with imagination, energy, and symphonic flair, Electric Light Orchestra are captured in their early, adventurous prime in this dazzling 1972 live radio broadcast collection. At a time when the band were redefining the boundaries of rock music, these performances showcase their bold fusion of classical instrumentation and pop sensibility, brought vividly to life on stage.

Driven by the visionary song writing of Jeff Lynne, ELO weave together sweeping string arrangements, rich harmonies, and infectious melodies with a sense of joy and spontaneity that's impossible to resist. Cellos soar, violins dance, and guitars crunch in perfect harmony, creating a sound that feels both grand and playfully inventive. There's a theatrical spirit at work here too--moments of elegance sit comfortably alongside bursts of exuberant, almost mischievous energy.

Preserved from original broadcast recordings, this collection offers a rare glimpse of a band still discovering the full scope of their sonic identity, yet already brimming with confidence and originality. The performances feel immediate and alive, capturing the excitement of a group breaking new ground in real time.
